The NEC now requires disconnects to be installed on battery strings, this includes low voltage applications (less than 50VDC). Disconnects come in several forms and serve many functions such as isolating a single battery string for maintenance, or serving as a trip mechanism in cases of emergency. The cabling to the batteries is also a crucial element. Your conductors must be sufficiently sized to prevent unwanted voltage drops. APS has procured, installed and cabled into many DC disconnects over the last decade.
